Rw - the answer for your question lies in the ridiculously low output impedance - this is what sets it apart from the pono: whilst for some phones you might need a phones amplifier, the geek can push any type.
And to the one above me who said it won't fly- oh, they said the same about pono and it flew allright- the kickstarter project got about ten times the funding they were hoping for...
People are sick of lousy mp3 files, they want to be able to listen to good quality flacs, and with their audiophile earphones, and what once used to cost 1000$ (ak player for example) now costs considerably less.
