The 20 goals scored in the past two nights have made this the highest-scoring conference finals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 23 years.

The 10 games played thus far -- five each between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers in the East and the Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks in the West -- have produced a total of 69 goals, an average of 6.9 per game. That's the most since 1991, when the series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins and the Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota North Stars generated an average of 7.2 goals per game.

The 2013 conference finals produced an average of 4.33 goals per game. The Penguins and Boston Bruins scored 14 goals in four games (3.5 per game), and the Kings-Blackhawks series generated 25 goals in five games (5.0 per game).

This season's playoffs have seen 578 goals scored in 85 games, an average of 5.62 per game. That's an increase from the regular season, which saw teams combine for an average of 5.34 goals per game.
