Well, he surrendered. Not that he had much choice.
Corey Hart — the Canadian singer famous for such mid-’80s jams as “Sunglasses at Night,” “Boy in the Box” (which has nothing to do with John Moore) and “Never Surrender” — has been forced to reschedule his farewell performance at the Bell Centre due to a potential Game 7 between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers.
Should the Habs, who are just asking for a little more time, defeat the Rangers Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, the Eastern Conference final will be decided in Montreal Saturday night, Hart’s original concert date and his 52nd birthday.
Corey Hart told me he's "gutted" about moving his sold out farewell show at Bell Centre. But wants to accommodate a possible #Habs game 7.
The father of four grew up in Montreal but now lives in Spain and the Bahamas. Hart’s gig has been moved to June 3 at 8 p.m., a date that will not conflict with the hockey team’s schedule should the Canadiens reach the Stanley Cup Final.
Coincidentally, June 3 is also a date with special meaning to the songwriter — it’s his 20th wedding anniversary:
