The Montreal Canadiens have placed goaltender Robert Mayer on unconditional waivers for the purposes of terminating his contract.
The team signed him to a two-year, two-way contract (2013-14 and 2014-15) last summer.
Mayer, 24, played 29 games with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs in 2013-14 with a 10-14-4 record, 2.80 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
