BOSTON – Montreal Canadiens coach Michel Therrien did not make a single lineup change throughout the Eastern Conference First Round series sweep against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but that might change now.
Therrien would not confirm his lineup for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Second Round series against the Boston Bruins on Thursday (7:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, RDS).
"You'll see my lineup tonight," Therrien said following the Canadiens morning skate.
There are two primary areas of intrigue when it comes to the Canadiens lineup.
The first is forward Travis Moen, who has recovered from a concussion that kept him out of the lineup in the first round. He is a big body who is a valuable penalty killer who spent all week skating on Therrien's fourth line with Daniel Briere and Dale Weise, bumping rookie Michael Bournival from the lineup.
The second is the status of defenseman Francis Bouillon, who plays on the left side of the third pair with Mike Weaver. Bouillon and Weaver shared the Canadiens lead with a plus-5 rating in the first round, but Therrien has hinted at the possibility of inserting the bigger, more physical Douglas Murray or Jarred Tinordi in Bouillon's place.
The Canadiens did not run lines at the morning skate, and forward Max Pacioretty took the option not to jump on the ice, though Therrien said he is fine and will play in Game 1.
Here is the projected lineup:
Max Pacioretty – David Desharnais – Thomas Vanek
Brandon Prust – Tomas Plekanec – Brendan Gallagher
Rene Bourque – Lars Eller – Brian Gionta
Travis Moen – Daniel Briere – Dale Weise
Francis Bouillon – Mike Weaver
Injured: Alex Galchenyuk (lower body)
Scratched: Douglas Murray, Jarred Tinordi, Michael Bournival, George Parros
