Rufus Wainwright may have the soul of a romantic, but the two dancers seem to be having all the fun in his video for Bitter Tears, which premieres at USA TODAY. While the couple dances the night away, Wainwright looks on from a nearby table, "choking on my bitter tears."

"Charly Braun, the great Brazilian movie director, generously offered to make this video on the fly when I had a couple of days in Buenos Aires to kill," Wainwright says. "All the cast and crew were fantastic and made this pale little northern boy feel at home. After the shoot was done we all went out and danced till dawn. I love South America!"

Bitter Tears originally appeared on Wainwright's 2012 Out of the Game album but is also included on his recently released compilation Vibrate: The Best of Rufus Wainwright.

Last month, Wainwright also released a DVD of his 2012 Live From the Artists Den concert, recorded at New York's Church of the Ascension, a National Historic Landmark church built in 1841 on Manhattan's lower Fifth Avenue. That show closes with a version of Bitter Tears featuring Mark Ronson on guitar.

Wainwright also has undertaken a crowdfunding project to allow him to record his 2009 opera Prima Donna with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. The Canadian Opera Company has commissioned him to compose a second opera, based on the story of the Roman Emperor Hadrian and his courtier Antinous, to premiere in 2018.

Wainwright recently completed a European tour and has booked the five following U.S. shows for later this month:

April 15 - Town Hall, New York

April 16 - Lincoln Theatre, Washington, D.C.

April 18 - Orpheum Theatre, Los Angeles

April 19-20 - Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco
