Brad Treliving has been named the new general manager of the Calgary Flames, according to a report from Bob McKenzie of TSN.
The Flames have been looking for a new GM since Jay Feaster was fired on Dec. 12. Brian Burke, the team's president of hockey operations, has been serving as acting GM for the past four months.
Elliotte Friedman of the CBC reported the announcement will be made Tuesday.
Treliving had spent the previous seven seasons as the assistant general manager for the Phoenix Coyotes, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the team's hockey operations department. Treliving also served as GM of the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates.
In his role, Treliving is consulted on all team personnel decisions and manages the amateur and pro scouting staffs and other administrative duties assigned by the general manager. Treliving is also responsible for all player personnel assignments with the team's minor league affiliates.
Treliving, 44, joined the Coyotes after serving as the president of the Central Hockey League for seven years. He also co-founded the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) in 1996 and served as the league's vice president and director of hockey operations for five seasons. When the WPHL and the CHL merged in May 2001, he began his tenure as president of the league.
