Justin Bieber has at least one Canadian in his corner, even if it's controversial Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.
After Bieber was charged with allegedly assaulting a limo driver on Wednesday, Ford defended the young pop star. "Well, you know what, he's a young guy," Ford said on Washington, D.C. radio show "the Sports Junkies," according to Entertainment Weekly. "At 19 years old, I wish I was as successful as he was. He's 19 years old, guys. Think back to when you were 19."
Ford, who has never met Bieber, has made headlines recently after admitting to smoking crack, among other erratic behavior.
Bieber surrendered to Toronto police Wednesday night one week after he was arrested in Miami on charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license. Police claim that he admitted to drinking, smoking marijuana and taking prescription pills at the time of his arrest. Bieber is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 14.
