Justin Bieber hit a little turbulence on his way back into the United States.
Two days after he was charged with assault in Toronto, a jet carrying the mischievous pop star and a group that reportedly included his dad landed in New Jersey with the intention of ferrying its occupants into town for Super Bowl XLVIII festivities.
Upon arrival at Teterboro Airport, however, the aircraft was searched by authorities with drug-sniffing dogs due to suspicion that there was marijuana onboard. The search could also be considered routine because the plane was en route from Canada, i.e. crossing an international border.
No drugs or other contraband were found, according to WNBC, but the passengers, including Bieber, were briefly detained by customs officials in a holding area and questioned before being allowed to leave the airport and carry on. (Whether Bieber kept calm or not is not immediately known.)
The private plane appears to have taken off from Toronto's Pearson International Airport and arrived at Teterboro at 2:53 p.m. ET.
Per WNBC, Bieber's ability to return to the States hinged on whether he has been convicted of a crime or not. He is facing criminal charges in Florida and his native Canada, all misdemeanors or their equivalent, but he has not been convicted of anything.
