All I Want for Christmas
DALLAS -- Edmonton Oilers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov had to leave the game against the Dallas Stars on Sunday late in the second period after a collision with Stars forward Ryan Garbutt.
Bryzgalov, who was starting his third straight game in net for the Oilers, stopped 28 of 29 shots in 36:19. The lone goal was scored by Garbutt, a shorthanded goal, at 11:37 of the second period.
Garbutt collided with Bryzgalov near the far post as he was skating toward the net. Bryzgalov was holding his head while on the ice and after being attended to by the Oilers' medical staff, Bryzgalov left and was replaced by Devan Dubnyk.
"He's got an upper-body injury that we're going to have to reassess in the morning. I've been upfront with you guys (the media)," Oilers coach Dallas Eakins said after his team earned a 3-2 shootout win. "I'm not being upfront now. I've got to keep this under wraps until we check him out a little further."
Bryzgalov entered Sunday with a 2.24 goals-against average and .928 save percentage in three appearances.
