While You Were Sleeping
The Toronto Argonauts have named Tim Burke as the club's new defensive coordinator.
Burke replaces Chris Jones, who was named head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos last Wednesday.
"Tim Burke is an experienced defensive coordinator who has coached in four of the past six Grey Cup games," said Argos head coach Scott Milanovich. "I couldn't be more thrilled that he has joined our staff and will lead our defence in 2014."
Burke has been the defensive coordinator in four of the past six Grey Cup championships, earning wins with the Montreal Alouettes in 2009 and 2010. He and Milanovich were both key figures on those Alouettes teams, as the Argos head coach served as offenisve coordinator.
He most recently served as head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for parts of the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
"I'm excited to join the Toronto Argonauts and to once again work with Scott Milanovich and Jim Barker," said Burke. "I'm confident this team has the foundation to be competitive and successful for years to come and I'm anxious to be a part of it."
It has been a busy off-season in the Argonauts front office, as the team's former special teams coordinator, Mike O'Shea, was named new head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Wednesday, becoming Burke's successor.
