The St. Louis Post-Dispatch details how Blues winger T.J. Oshie's game-clinching shootout goal in Tuesday's win did not actually go the way he had planned it.
"I knew what I was going to do, but it wasn't what I did," Oshie admitted. "I was coming in to originally go with the backhand because we didn't know much on (Montreal goalie Carey) Price. I asked everyone on the bench and no one really knew much about him. So I wanted to give him something that maybe he hasn't seen yet from me. I don't go to my backhand very much; it's not one of my go-to moves.
"Then when I came in, he looked different than any goalie I've ever seen. He came down real low and he covered up his five-hole, which is where I like to shoot and then came out at me. It wasn't really a panic, but I was like, I'm just going back to my old move … the go-to where I go backhand-forehand.
"But then he was there, so the only thing I could do is just try to get it up. I thought I was going to miss at that point and it ended up just going in the right spot."
