The Toronto Blue Jays appear to have no problem with their ninth-inning strategy from 2013.

MLB.com has reported that the Jays have decided to exercise the $4 million option on closer Casey Janssen's contract for the 2014 season.

While the move has not yet been made official, the Jays are expected to pick up the remaining option year on the two-year, $5.9 million deal that the 32-year-old Janssen signed prior to the 2012 season.

Janssen recorded 34 saves in 36 opportunities with a 2.56 earned-run average in 2013, striking out 50 batters in 52.2 innings.

The closer will now eligible for free agency following the 2014 season.

The California native was originally selected by the Jays in the fourth round of the 2004 MLB Amateur Draft. He has made 339 career appearances for the team, posting a 26-21 career record with 65 saves.
