TORONTO -- Canadian star Milos Raonic and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia will square off later this month in the Davis Cup semifinals.
The 11th-ranked Raonic, who is from Thornhill, Ont., will be joined by veteran Daniel Nestor of Toronto, Vasek Pospisil of Vancouver and Frank Danceivc of Niagara Falls, Ont.
Other members of the Serbian team include Janko Tipsarevic, Nenad Zimonjic and Dusan Lajovic.
The best-of-five tie will be played from Sept. 13-15 on clay at the Belgrade Arena.
It's the first time Canada has made the World Group semifinals.
The winner will move on to the final in November versus the winner of a tie between Argentina and Czech Republic.
"We are very much looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of us in Belgrade," Canadian captain Martin Laurendeau said in a statement. "This is a recent Davis Cup winning squad with the No. 1 player in the world on it. The year they won the championship was also the year they won their first World Group tie ever. We are looking to follow in their footsteps but we need to get past them first. We made it here to the final four on the strength of our team and we are bringing the same guys to Belgrade to try and keep this run going."
