TORONTO / NEW YORK – The 2013 Molson Canadian NHL Face-OffTM, the NHL's free hockey, entertainment and community festival, will take over Place des Festivals in Montreal on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The celebration begins at 3:00 p.m. ET, rain or shine, and will feature: musical performances; interactive hockey attractions as well as numerous community and fundraising activities, presented by the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation; prizes and giveaways; special guest appearances; and food, beverage and merchandise available for purchase. The event culminates at 7 p.m. ET with the live telecast of the season-opening game between the Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs on giant video screens.
In addition to performances from Grammy® Award-winning band Kings of Leon (@KingsOfLeon), Montreal hip hop group Loco Locass, Toronto indie rock band The Beaches (@TheBeaches), the day also will feature special appearances by Montreal Canadiens alumni Guy Carbonneau, Vincent Damphousse and Chris Nilan as well as Canadiens mascot Youppi.

3:00 p.m. | At Place des Festivals, through the conclusion of the Maple Leafs-Canadiens game, fans will be treated to free interactive activities, prizes and giveaways presented by: Bell, Bridgestone, Canadian Tire, Captain Morgan, Molson Canadian, Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation, NHL NetworkTM, Oh Henry!, Panini, Reebok-CCM, Reese, Scotiabank, SiriusXM, Tim Hortons and Visa. NHL AlumniTM interview with Guy Carbonneau on the Scotiabank Stage. Look for Youppi, the official Montreal Canadiens mascot, throughout Place des Festivals. |
4:00 p.m. | NHL Alumni interview with Vincent Damphousse on the Scotiabank Stage. |
4:15 p.m. | Indie rock band The Beaches will give a 30-minute performance on the Molson Canadian Main Stage. |
5:00 p.m. | NHL Alumni interview session with Chris Nilan on the Scotiabank Stage. |
6:00 p.m. | NHL Alumni Guy Carbonneau, Vincent Damphousse and Chris Nilan to share stories from the Scotiabank Stage. |
6:30 p.m. | Kings of Leon's 40-minute set will be featured in CBC's pre-game show, Hockey Tonight, hosted by Ron MacLean and broadcast live nationally starting at 6:30 p.m. ET. Award-winning broadcaster and hockey fanatic, George Stroumboulopoulos (@strombo) will emcee the concert event live from Montreal. CBCSports.ca will make the entire performance available online via live stream. |
1st Intermission | Coach's Corner on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada featuring Don Cherry and Ron MacLean will be shown on all video screens. |
