EDMONTON -- The Oilers have hired Edmonton Oil Kings general manager Bob Green as director of amateur and free-agent scouting.
Green, the Western Hockey League's executive of the year in 2011-12 and 2012-13, had been Oil Kings GM for the past six seasons. His duties with the Oilers will include helping out with NCAA, CHL and European scouting and developing a free-agent priority list.
This will be the 52-year-old's first NHL scouting position. He previously served as assistant GM of the WHL's Medicine Hat Tigers before running the Oil Kings' hockey operation.
