{allcanada} OHL player charged with stabbing girlfriend's father in the back

Dalton Young, a 20-year-old defenseman for the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend's father just a day after he was arrested on charges of assaulting his girlfriend.

According to the Times Herald, Young was arrested Thursday for the alleged assault, arraigned Friday and released with a no-contact order. That same day, however, Young visited his girlfriend's home in Marysville, Mich., and allegedly forced his way in after being told she wasn't there.

"The Marysville woman's parents called Young's parents. Young's parents came over and were speaking with the homeowners when Young exited the kitchen and stabbed his girlfriend's father in the back," [Marysville Police Chief Tim] Buelow said.

Officers responded to the home. After attending to the stabbing victim, they found Young attempting to remove a rifle from a locked secured rack in a Marysville patrol car.

Yikes. This just keeps getting worse.

The good news is that the stabbing victim was treated and released from the hospital.

The 6-foot-1, 178-pound defenseman has spent the past three seasons with the Spirit, amassing 58 points over that span. Young went unselected in his first two years of eligibility for the NHL Entry Draft.

The Times Herald reported that the team was unaware of the incident when contacted by the paper and had been planning on Young attending its training camp at the end of the month.
