The first-season pair defeated Mariafe Artacho and Jessyka Nqauamo of Australia in their third and final round robin match 21-12, 17-21, 15-7. Pavan and Bansley, seeded 42nd, finished second in Group G with a 2-1 record to automatically advance to the round of 32.
Jamie Broder of Victoria and Kristina Valjas of Toronto went 0-3 in round robin play and did not advance.
In men's play, Ben Saxton of Calgary and Chaim Schalk of Red Deer, Alta., evened their record at 1-1 to stay in contention. They defeated Sebastian Fuchs and Thomas Kaczmarek of Germany 21-18, 21-10. Their third match is Thursday.
