The Edmonton Oilers have traded forward Shawn Horcoff to the Dallas Stars in exchange for defenceman Philip Larsen and a seventh-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Horcoff has spent his entire NHL career with the Oilers after the team drafted him in the fourth round (99th overall) in 1998.

The Trail, B.C., native has two years left on his current contract with a salary cap hit of $5.5 million per season.

This past season, Horcoff had just 12 points in 31 games and dealt with injuries.

Larsen, 23, had five points in 32 games with the Stars this seasons.

Acquiring Horcoff was the second notable move Stars general manager Jim Nill made Thursday as the team also got Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button in a trade with the Boston Bruins in exchange for Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Joe Morrow and Matt Fraser.
