When you marry an agent, you have to know all about the percentages.
Take wedding planning. Kevin Zegers, who ties the knot next month with Jaime Feld, says the workload fell this way: "95 percent her, 5 percent me."
"I got my tuxedo," he tells PEOPLE, "and helped her with the flowers a little bit."
Zegers, 28, next appears in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, the big-screen adaptation of the wildly popular young-adult novels. With a premiere date of Aug. 21, it's been a juggling act between wedding prep and movie publicity.
"The timing was weird," he said while promoting the movie at Comic-Con in San Diego on Friday. "But I'm so excited, I really am. It's to the point now where it's all planned. I just can't wait to get married."
The Gossip Girl actor says the biggest pre-wedding challenge has been "just figuring out where to put people" – the guest list stands at 250.
"She's an agent, so a lot of her clients are going to be there. We're figuring out whether to put my aunt and uncle, who live on a farm, next to some of her clients," Zegers explains. "It's a very fine balance."
He adds with a laugh, "It's probably the weirdest group of people coming together that you'll ever want to see."
After squeezing the wedding in between international publicity tours, they'll zip off for a one-week honeymoon, then it's back to work for Zegers, filming the sequel to The Mortal Instruments.
"Thank God I'm marrying someone who has a big understanding of how crazy this life can be," he jokes.
