The Calgary Flames acquired defenceman Kris Russell from the St. Louis Blues on Friday in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2014 Draft.
Russell, a native of Red Deer, Alberta, played 33 games with St. Louis this season and had one goal and adding six assists.
The six-year NHL veteran has played in 364 career games with 23 goals and 72 assists and 145 penalty minutes. Russell was drafted in the third round of the 2005 Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
