The Ottawa Sun projects that a restricted free agent without the right to file for arbitration, Senators defenceman Jared Cowen will be in for a big raise from the $1.295 million (including a signing bonus) he made in the final year of his entry level contract last season.
Rick Valette, his Alberta-based agent, said Monday from Calgary the two sides plan to get down to brass tacks this week and he's awaiting a first offer from the Senators to see just how much of a gap there is to bridge.
"We still have plenty of time," said Valette. "We've only had a couple of conversations."
