The Toronto Maple Leafs and soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Tyler Bozak continue to negotiate over a possible new contract as Friday's Free Agent signing period draws closer.
According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, the most recent response from Bozak's representatives is an eight-year contract proposal averaging less than $5 million per season.
In 46 games this season, Bozak scored 12 goals and 16 assists and finished fifth in team scoring.
The Regina native finished off a two-year contract he signed with Toronto prior to the 2011-12 season that had an average annual value of $1.5 million.
In five seasons, Bozak has scored 53 goals and 81 assists in 238 career NHL games, all with Toronto.
He was signed as an undrafted college free agent by the Maple Leafs in 2009 after two seasons with the University of Denver.
