TORONTO -- Dutch striker Danny Koevermans could return to action for Toronto FC this weekend after all.

"It looks like, after a bit of a scare, he should be right, which will be a big boost for everybody," manager Ryan Nelsen said after practice Friday. "We know how dangerous Danny can be so we're really looking forward to having him be part of the squad again."

Earlier in the week, Nelsen said Koevermans was in doubt because he had tweaked his other knee in practice.

The 34-year-old has not seen first-team action since tearing up his knee last July in New England. He was said to be good to go last weekend but the team elected to hold him back because the game was back in New England and on artificial turf.

Toronto (1-7-4) hosts the Philadelphia Union (5-5-3) on Saturday. Toronto hopes to snap a five-game losing streak and 10-game winless slide in league play.

Logan Emory, Justin Braun, Richard Eckersley and Stefan Frei remain unavailable through injury.

In other news, Nelsen said the deal to get veteran Israeli defender Tal Ben Haim has fallen through because of money issues.
