Sorry for reviving this rather old thread.
But i feel i must warn everybody for the scam in aluminium speaker cable that has started, not too long ago.
Please make sure you buy 100% copper wire. Make a note thet CCA means: Copper Clad Aluminium. and that can mean anything from 70% Al / 30% Cu to 99.9% Al and a very thin cladding of copper.
Advantage of aluminium: weight and price
Disadvantage of Aluminium: much higher electrical resistance, brittle and breaks easily when bending, contact corrosion.
You will need twice the amount of aluminium to have the same electrical resistance as you would need for copper.

Hello all. Thanks again for all the feedback on Receivers. As it stands, I got Onkyo to extend my warranty and will be dropping off the unit for repairs today at a local authorized service dealer. If this doesn't work out, I'm looking at a Sherbourn.--
Now that I've got my system apart (well, a big chunk of it is missing, obviously), I thought I'd take this opportunity to upgrade the speaker cable. I'm sure some of the cables in this system are older than some forum members, and as worn and threadbare as others :-)
So, what are your recommendations for speaker cable? Cry havoc, and unleash the dogs of opinion!
