According to the London Free Press, Sarnia Sting head coach Jacques Beaulieu has been charged with two counts of assault and his son, Montreal Canadiens prospect Nathan Beaulieu, is being investigated after an incident on Saturday.
The report indicates the incident occurred at a private residence near the Strathroy, Ontario area. According to Windsor lawyer Patrick Ducharme, who is representing Nathan Beaulieu, his client has not been charged.
Jacques Beaulieu was named a finalist for Ontario Hockey League Coach of the Year on Monday while Nathan Beaulieu, who spent most the season with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs, is skating with other Bulldogs teammates in Montreal ahead of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
"At this point in time, there's only so much we can say," Canadiens vice-president of communications Donald Beauchamp told the Free Press.
"We've been made aware of the situation. This is a legal situation and for that reason we can't comment any further."
