James Hinchcliffe recognized fellow Canadians -- Paul Tracy, Greg Moore, Scott Goodyear, Gilles Villeneuve and Patrick Carpentier -- in Victory Circle following his maiden IZOD IndyCar Series win March 24 in the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
The Legislative Assembly of Ontario followed up by recognizing the "Mayor of Hinchtown" for his achievement. Kevin Flynn, chairman of the Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs (and interestingly parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Transportation), read a congratulatory note on the floor of the full legislature. Hinchcliffe was the first Canadian to win an Indy car race since Tracy in 2007.
Flynn and Hinchcliffe are natives of Oakville, Ontario. BTW: Hinchcliffe is featured in the April issue of Sharp magazine.
