{allcanada} JAYS' JOHNSON TO MISS START VS. YANKEES WITH TRICEPS INJURY

NEW YORK -- Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Josh Johnson will miss a start as a precaution after experiencing right triceps tightness.

Left-hander Aaron Laffey will replace Johnson on the mound for Friday night's road game against the New York Yankees, the Blue Jays said in a release.

Johnson, 29, has started four games this season, posting an 0-1 record with a 6.86 earned-run average.

Laffey, 28, returned to the Blue Jays last Tuesday after he was claimed on waivers from the New York Mets. He did not record a decision and had a 7.20 ERA in four appearances with the Mets this season.

Laffey went 4-6 with a 4.56 ERA in 22 games with Toronto last season.

Johnson was acquired by the Blue Jays last fall in a 12-player trade with Miami.

He was 8-14 last season with a 3.81 ERA in 31 starts for the Marlins. The two-time all-star recorded 165 strikeouts with 65 walks in 191 1-3 innings.

Johnson led the National League with a 2.30 ERA in 2010. In eight seasons with the Marlins, Johnson compiled a 56-37 record with an ERA of 3.15.

The 9-14 Blue Jays are last in the American League East standings.
