The Dallas Stars have traded forward Derek Roy to the Vancouver Canucks for a second round draft pick and defenceman Kevin Connauton.
The 29-year-old Roy has scored four goals and 18 assists in 30 games with the Stars this season.
The Ottawa, Ontario native made a brief stay in Dallas after being acquired in an off-season trade that sent Steve Ott and Adam Pardy to the Buffalo Sabres.
Roy was originally drafted 32nd overall by the Sabres in the 2001 NHL Draft. In 579 career NHL games, Roy has scored 165 goals and 284 assists.
He is in the final year of a six-year $24 million contract.
The 23-year-old Connauton has seven goals and 18 assists in 60 games with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
Connauton, who has yet to play an NHL game, was drafted by the Canucks 83rd overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
