Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn could be facing supplemental discipline stemming from his major penalty for cross-checking in Thursday night's game against the Edmonton Oilers.
He will have a hearing on Saturday with National Hockey League Director of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan.
The incident in question took place with four minutes left to play in the third period of the Stars' 5-1 loss to the Oilers.
Benn cross-checked Oilers forward Ryan Jones from behind after Jones had run into Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen.
Jones, who was assessed a goaltender interference penalty on the play, remained down before being helped to the locker room. Benn was given a major penalty and a game misconduct.
Benn has appeared in 16 games so far this season with the Stars and has six goals and eight assists.
The 23-year-old missed the beginning of the season as a restricted free-agent while he awaited a new contract, before finally agreeing to a 5-year contract worth $26.25 million.
