TORONTO -- Toronto FC went through a spirited practice at BMO Field on Tuesday that left a few lumps.

Defender Richard Eckersley emerged with a bloody nose while midfielder Terry Dunfield had to bandage a bloody knee.

John Bostock also went down, but his time on the turf was ignored by all around him. The English winger eventually got up and rejoined the play.

For manager Ryan Nelsen, the on-field battles were good to see -- players competing for starting places.

Toronto (1-2-0) hosts the defending MLS champion Los Angeles Galaxy (2-0-1) on Saturday.
