Halifax Mooseheads forward Nate MacKinnon has a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury that will keep him out of the lineup for one-to-two weeks.
MacKinnon confirmed the extent of his injury Tuesday morning; one day after the club announced the length of time he would be sidelined.
MacKinnon was forced from Friday night's 8-5 loss to the Moncton Wildcats in the second period after sustaining the injury and did not return.
The 17-year-old is expected to be one of the top picks in the 2013 NHL Draft. He is currently second on the team in scoring with 28 goals and 41 assists in 41 games played.
