The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have locked up prospective free agent DL Bryant Turner just before he hit the open market.
Turner signed a new two-year deal with the club. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
The 25-year-old picked up six sacks last year for Winnipeg. The second-year lineman was hot out of the gate last year before being slowed by injuries as the season progressed.
Blue Bombers GM Joe Mack also revealed prospective free agent LB Marcellus Bowman suffered a knee injury and will be sidelined for some time. Mack said he'll try to work out a contract with Bowman and that the 26-year-old had interest from five NFL teams.
The Bombers GM also noted that he didn't expect to bring in an experienced CFL quarterback to compete with Buck Pierce, Joey Elliott, and Alex Brink. He didn't rule out bringing in a QB from the team's negotiation list to compete at the position however.
