CALGARY -- Romby Bryant won't have to wait until Feb. 15 to entertain CFL free agent offers.

The veteran receiver was among three players released Wednesday by the Calgary Stampeders, who also signed defensive back Adam Berger, a 2012 draft pick.

Bryant appeared in 60 regular-season games with Calgary, registering 210 catches for 3,025 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also played in seven playoff games with the CFL club and was eligible to become a free agent Feb. 15.

As a result of the release, Bryant is free to sign now with any CFL team he chooses.

"By releasing Romby now instead of waiting until Feb. 15 when he was eligible to become a free agent, we wanted to give him more time to explore opportunities with other teams," Stampeders head coach/GM John Hufnagel said in a statement. "Romby has been a great player and a great person and I thank him for everything he has done for the football club."

The Stampeders also released defensive lineman Kenny Pettway and announced the retirement of offensive lineman Jonathan St. Pierre.

Berger was selected in the fourth round, 30th overall, in the 2012 CFL draft by Calgary.

Berger played at Simon Fraser University in 2012, registering 36 solo tackles, 25 assisted tackles, one sack, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries. He also served as an occasional kicker for the Clan, hitting a field goal and 13 converts.
