{allcanada} OHL: VANDERWEIL'S HAT TRICK LEADS WHALERS PAST STORM

GUELPH, Ont. - Danny Vanderweil scored a hat trick to lead the Plymouth Whalers past the Guelph Storm 6-2 in Ontario Hockey League play Wednesday.

Tom Wilson, Matthew Mistele and Alex Aleardi also scored for Plymouth (17-12-8), which scored four times in the third period.

Zac Leslie and Scott Kosmachuk replied for Guelph (21-12-4).

Whalers goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic made 38 saves, while at the other end of the ice Keegan Wilson was pulled after allowing four goals on 25 shots. He was replaced by Jason DaSilva, who gave up two goals on six shots.

Kitchener Rangers 3 Owen Sound 1

OWEN SOUND, Ont. - Franky Palazzese made 35 saves as the Kitchener Rangers defeated the Owen Sound Attack 3-1 in Ontario Hockey League play Wednesday.

Ben Fanelli, Nick Czinder and Josh Sterk each scored for the Rangers (20-12-5), who led 3-0 after two periods.

Cameron Brace scored the lone goal for the Attack (25-9-3) at 11:06 in the third.

Owen Sound goaltender Brandon Hope meanwhile stopped 17 shots.
