The executive board of the NHL Players' Association authorized a $10,000 stipend to every player on Saturday as the lockout continues.
The labour stalemate is in its 77th day with no talks currently scheduled between the NHL and the players.
The Players' Association held a conference call on Friday to discuss NHL commissioner Gary Bettman's offer of an owner-player only meeting among other issues.
There has been no formal response to Bettman's offer as of Saturday night.
Both sides were unable to bridge a gap in collective bargaining negotiations despite sitting through a series of sessions with U.S. federal mediators in New Jersey this week.
