Taylor Hall stood out like a sore shoulder Wednesday, according to The Edmonton Sun.
"I don't know why they have me wearing this bright yellow jersey," said the one Edmonton Oilers player receiving his normal NHL paycheque to open the season.
"I'm here because I've finally been cleared for contact.
"Maybe they just wanted to introduce me to practice and kind of work me in today. But I'm here to become part of the team, start skating with a line and be involved in some contact," he said of joining Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the ice at an OKC Barons practice at the Cox Convention Centre for the first time.
It was media day Wednesday as the AHL team hosted a post-practice event to kickoff a five-game homestand to open the season, starting with games Friday and Saturday.
Hall, who spent the entire session with a 'Joy of Hockey' smile on his face, explained to the local media that he would not be cleared to play for the Barons until the five-game run is done, however.
The third-year left winger, who had his season cut short last spring with a shoulder injury, did made a guarantee to Oilers fans though.
"If the lockout ends and the season starts Nov. 2, I'll be in the lineup," he said.
To this point for Hall, it's not a bad thing that the season has started with a lockout.
"I'm not sure I'd be playing right now if it had started," he said of getting medical clearance for last Saturday's scheduled season opener against the Canucks in Vancouver.
