{allcanada} WHL: FIORETTI HAT TRICK LIFTS WARRIORS OVER WHEAT KINGS

Sam Fioretti scored his first career hat trick as the Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings 6-1 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

The 19-year-old centreman also picked up an assist for a four-point night and the game's first star.

Carter Hansen and Jordan Wyton each had a goal and an assist for the Warriors (2-2-0) while Morgan Rielly chipped in with two assists.

Bryson Gore had a single goal to round out Moose Jaw's offence.

Eric Roy scored the lone goal for the Wheat Kings (4-1-0), who dropped their first game of the season after starting the year with four straight wins.

Justin Paulic stopped 18 shots for the win as Corbin Boes allowed six goals on 23 shots against.

Moose Jaw went 3-for-5 on the power play while Brandon failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Red Deer 3, Calgary 2 (OT); Lethbridge 4, Kootenay 2; Saskatoon 2, Swift Current 1 (OT); Medicine Hat 5, Regina 1; Kelowna 4, Portland 3; Seattle 2, Prince George 1 (OT) and Spokane 5, Tri-City 3.

At Moose Jaw, Sask., Fioretti opened the scoring on the power play 2:50 into the first period.

He scored his second of the period at 8:52 and Gore added another at 11:50 to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Hansen scored a power-play goal at 6:34 of the second period.

Roy scored at 8:25 to get Brandon on the board, but Wyton responded less than two minutes later to restore his club's four-goal lead.

Fioretti completed his hat trick with just 18 seconds remaining in the second period and it came on the power play.

At Calgary, Charles Inglis scored twice, including the game winner in overtime, as Red Deer (1-3-0) snapped their three-game losing streak by beating the Hitmen (3-0-1).

At Cranbrook, B.C., Russel Maxwell scored twice and set up two more and Ty Rimmer stopped 16 shots as Lethbridge (2-2-0) doubled up Kootenay (1-3-0).

At Swift Current, Sask., Josh Nicholls scored the game winner at the 2:32 mark of overtime as Sakatoon (2-2-0) slipped past Swift Current (1-0-3).

Tigers 5 Pats 1

At Medicine Hat, Alta., Curtis Valk scored two goals and Hunter Shinkaruk had a goal and three assists as the Tigers (3-1-0) defeated Regina (1-4-0).

Rockets 4 Winterhawks 3

At Portland, Ore., Myles Bell scored twice and set up one and Jordan Cooke earned the game's first star after stopping 43-of-46 shots as Kelowna (1-2-1) edged the Winterhawks (3-2-0).

Thunderbirds 2 Cougars 1 (OT)

At Prince George, B.C., Seth Swenson scored the tying goal with 9.4 seconds remaining in regulation and then set up Shea Theodore's winner in overtime as Seattle (2-2-0) downed the Cougars (3-0-1).

At Spokane, Wash., Mitch Holmberg scored three times and Eric Williams made 23 saves as the Chiefs (2-0-0) defeated Tri-City (1-3-0).
