The Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday reportedly hired former NHL forward John Madden to their amateur player recruitment group.
Madden, according to TSN.com, will be responsible for the scouting and evaluation of free agent players at the U.S. collegiate level.
Madden, 39, played 898 career games spanning 13 NHL seasons, totaling 165 goals and 348 points. He earned the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the League's top defensive-forward in 2001, while finishing as a finalist for the award in 2003 and '04.
He played nine seasons with the New Jersey Devils and was a part of their Stanley Cup championships in 2000 and 2003. He joined the Chicago Blackhawks in 2009 and helped lead the team to the 2010 Stanley Cup.
