The Edmonton Eskimos will be forced to go to their bench when they take on the Calgary Stampeders in their Scotiabank Labour Day matchup.

Eskimos head coach Kavis Reed announced on Sunday that Kerry Joseph will be the starting quarterback for Monday's contest in Calgary as Steven Jyles is battling an ankle injury.

Jyles left in the first quarter of the Eskimos' last contest, a 26-17 victory over the Toronto Argonauts, after being getting sacked by defensive tackle Ronald Flemons.

Joseph took over after the injury and completed 13 of 20 pass attempts for 169 yards and threw two interceptions in the victory.  He also rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown.

The 10-year veteran is 29 for 48 so far this season as the Eskimos backup QB, with two touchdowns and five interceptions.

Joseph has not started a game since 2009 when he was a member of the Argonauts.
