TORONTO -- Toronto slotback Chad Owens has been named the CFL's offensive player of the week, while teammate Ahmad Carroll took defensive honours.
Hamilton returner Chris Williams took the special teams award, while Calgary running back Jon Cornish claimed top Canadian.
Owens had a game-high 176 receiving yards and one touchdown on 11 catches in the Argonauts' 33-30 win over rival Hamilton on Labour Day.
Owens also became only the third player in CFL history to register 402 all-purpose yards in a game.
Teammate Carroll registered one tackle and one interception which he returned for a touchdown in the win over Hamilton. Carroll intercepted Henry Burris' pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown with 7:55 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The play of Owens and Carroll overshadowed a record-setting showing from Williams, who compiled 158 yards and one touchdown on five punt returns and 16 yards on one missed field goal.
Williams set a record for touchdown returns in a season with six, with half a season still to play.
Cornish, from New Westminster, B.C., had 71 yards on 13 carries and 23 yards and a touchdown on four receptions in the Stamperders' 31-30 Labour Day win over Edmonton. It's Cornish's second straight Canadian player of the week award.
