Linus Omark won't be lacing up for the Edmonton Oilers this season -- lockout or not.
The 25-year-old restricted free agent announced on Twitter Wednesday that he will play for EV Zug of Switzerland's National League A this season.
Finally i got a new team, looking forward to play for Zug!
The deal is reported to be for one-year. The Oilers, who issued a qualifying offer to Omark in June, will retain his rights when he decides to return to the NHL.
The highly-skilled Swede has struggled to carve out a role with the Oilers since coming to North America in 2010.
Omark showed flashes of his high-end offensive potential in his rookie campaign, scoring five goals and 27 points in 51 games in the NHL to go along with 31 points in 28 games with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL. In his sophomore year, Omark appeared in 14 games with the Oilers and recorded three goals.
The Oilers drafted Omark in the fourth round, 97th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
