Montreal Canadiens winger Rene Bourque has undergone successful abdominal surgery, the team announced Wednesday.
Bourque, who suffered a tear in the wall of his abdomen during off-season training, is expected to be sidelined two to three months.
The Canadiens acquired the 30-year-old Alberta native from the Calgary Flames in January. In 38 games with the Canadiens last season, Bourque had five goals and three assists. He added 13 goals and three assists in 38 games with Calgary.
