{allcanada} GILLIS ON DOAN: WE'RE GOING TO WAIT IT OUT

The uncertainty of a new CBA has had a trickle-down effect, according to The Vancouver Province.

Coveted unrestricted free agent Shane Doan is hopeful Greg Jamison can secure $20 million in additional funding to purchase the Coyotes, but the winger is expected to sign before the current CBA expires to maximize the money — as much as a four-year, $30-million offer from the Buffalo Sabres and one the New York Rangers would match.

For general manager Mike Gillis, it also means contract extensions for Alexandre Burrows and Alexander Edler remain in the preliminary stage and that a Roberto Luongo trade would probably be on hold at least until the Doan domino falls. Maybe longer.

"We've been in constant contact with him and he's clearly a player we'd like to have in Vancouver and we're going to wait it out," Gillis said of offering the 35-year-old Doan a contract expected to be near the $6.1 that Henrik and Daniel Sedin are earning.
