Re: [SurroundSound] Re: The DR Masters

I agree with Paul.  This isn't anything that warrants getting so worked up about (although Tabs obvious passion is admirable, to be sure).    At the end of the day,  we should be thankful that there are enough like minded people who can get together and share this stuff (and debate about it, too).    Personally, am always amazed at the new (old) music that keeps surfacing, especially when you realize that there is still more to come.
Throwing in  a couple of bucks  to keep the process going is a no brainer, and don't see it as having to pay to play by any means.  I, for one, consider myself lucky to have stumbled into all this.     - CP

Don't you think this should be discussed in a private email rather then airing dirty laundry on a public forum?

I have seen no attempt for anyone to sell anything here an if you are referring to the "hub" costs of which I gladly paid that is just a group of people paying for the service of connecting to each others computers and if I know lokks he is paying the lions share out of his own pocket!

I've been here for a minute and although I don't want to lose our friendship, however I must point out some things.. I'm just going to risk our friendship.

First of all, The thread -- the hub -- the concept -- is an alternative for sharing free surround formats besides other available internet methods. In this sense, it's not piracy. Guys just sharing what they love. Go out and buy the original. Period. We're a small number of users who wish to sample surround sound legally that isn't otherwise available.

But what the hell are you doing?

You've added this extra cost to opt in. What the hell?

Also, you act like your copy of a copy is superior to studio masters. What the hell? So I sampled your genius and now I'll buy the studio copy. Wow! They suck?

This was not the goals of this group ever. Ever. Ever. Ever.

We share inferior copies of surround sound mixes to inspire other members to buy the original. Period. That's cool. You like it. You buy it. And I think that's legal. And hopefully the studio will give us more music in this format.

We were never a pirate organization. You've somehow misunderstood this. Please cease and desist. Your desire to make money off this is wrong. Who are you anyway?  What the hell is wrong with you?

Despite your critical listening ears, our hub could be so much more! Didn't you learn anything from our founders? Shame on you lokks. I risk our friendship, but someone here needs to tell you straight. What the hell is going on? Are you trying to kill us all?

FYI: stereo 96/24 tracks on FLAC usually turn in an album at around 800 GB as opposed to 350 GB for 44.1/16

I got the impression (before I'd heard you refer to them as such) that they were just R2R...is there something I missed in there?  The file sizes are quite small for an SACD.  Just an observation--haven't heard them...the file sizes threw me so I never bothered to listen.  I figured they were on the order of something else I have from another band that was reel to reel but clearly a consumer deck and presumably a consumer edition (?)...sounds great and worn.  Are these like that?

So the question arises; who has heard these and what do you think?
