The Toronto Raptors have agreed on a three-year offer sheet with guard/forward Landry Fields, according to a ESPN.com report.
Just going up online and via SportsCenter: Raptors and Knicks' RFA Landry Fields have agreed to three-year offer sheet
In 66 games with the New York Knicks last season, Fields averaged 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 28:41 minutes per game.
According to various reports, Fields will make up to $20 million over the three years of the deal. The deal cannot become official until July 11.
Fields, a second round pick in 2009 out of Stanford, would fit into head coach Dwane Casey's defensive style that the Raptors are trying to employ and he would add critical depth at the wing position to play with DeMar DeRozan, James Johnson and 2012 first round pick Terrence Ross.
With the Fields offer sheet, the Raptors could be making a move to knock the Knicks out of the Steve Nash free agent sweepstakes.
I think Fields signing is smart move for Raptors. Toronto essentially paid $20M to knock Knicks out of running for Nash …
Fields was considered a key trade chip for the Knicks in a possible sign-and-trade with the Suns for the Canadian all-star point guard.
If the Knicks decide to match the offer sheet, they will be unable to move Fields in a trade during the off-season.
The Knicks will have three days to match once Fields officially signs the offer sheet.
