This is what has been stated by a good authority, one of the Oppo beta testers. The Oppo will send DSD direct to analog through the player's analog outputs with a couple of caveats: There is no bass management that occurs in the player when doing so, and the player can't have an
active HDMI connection to a device that itself cannot decode DSD. If the player makes a connection with an AVR/pre-amp that is not capable of decoding DSD during the handshake process, it will instead convert the DSD to PCM first before sending it to the player's analog outs. One way to make that happen is to switch the input on the AVR/pre-amp so the HDMI connection to the Oppo is not active during the handshake process. If you have an HDMI connection to an AVR/pre-amp that is capable of decoding DSD, then this issue isn't relevant.

Hi all,
I know most of you use HTPC or OPPO + pre-amplifier that can decode DSD,
However - I do not have a pre-amp capable of DSD decoding, and am using the analog out of the oppo straight into the pre-amp.
Are the analog outs of the oppo converted first to PCM or infact I am getting a direct DSD?
