Thanks for your 'message' Grayhawk.
It was a good read with many a vaild point.........for the most part.
Thanks- but I didn't say anything different than Steve did, just from a different slant (until the last part about my motives, of course).
It was good of you to stick up for Steven.
Well, I felt I needed to, since as I read through the thread he seemed to be getting ganged up on when he was just speaking the truth (imho, of course) and being seemingly unheard, bashed for saying things he never said and otherwise abused. I just wish I had been on this forum when that discussion was so heated to contribute then.
I'll confine my comment to what your preamble led up to and what you
intimated was your prime motive for this missive.
That we should decline current Hi-Res releases in order to encourage
more surround releases.
Hmmm......
Maybe you could have applied some of your excellent early reasoning
and 'scientific'** approach to your latter 'prime motive': to gently
persuade us ,'to pass on those HD downloads and the music industry
will decide it's easier to get our wallets open by opening up their
vaults and releasing those surround mixes- or even commissioning some
new ones.'
It seems to me a huge assumption, based on no evidence, put forward by
you, that the industry would react in such a manner.
Can't argue with that- no evidence at all, just a thought that may very well be wrong.
**Note: maybe not 'scientific' but, like much of modern Psycholgy,
'statistical'. What is they say about statistics?
They say a lot of things about statistics, but the one my statistics prof emphasized was that "statistics lie," meaning they can be easily manipulated.
I respecfully suggest you may be a little late with your argument, as
after some years of stereo only Hi Res downloads being available, we
are now begining to be offered surround in Hi Res. So please do not
decline the Hi Res, as it apears to be leading up to Hi Res surround
releases just around the corner!
There is another thread here, about this exciting new developement,
currently only available, in any meaningful way, in Japan.
But there are other outlets offing very minor amounts of Hi Res
surround, so please get out there and buy it, to encourage more.
I was unaware of this- what outlets are offering surround d/l's?
