Actually there are. Several kits are available that use the same ESS Sabre ES9018 32-bit DACs as Scolumbo’s beloved Oppo. Some use fairly elaborate electronics to compliment the DAC. A serious designer pays very close attention to the quality of the power supplies and filters, along with the analog output circuitry. That’s why these tend to be fairly expensive. Here’s an example of a really nice external DAC for an HTPC –

I wish I could afford one.

So far the only kink in things comes from having to use HDMI or a Mytek to get MC DSD. The main problem I have with the oppo is the lack of rendering capabilities. It can get a bit onerous to scroll thru 2k-3k albums. Alas were there some DAC solution in the same class as the Oppo I'd be all over it.

An apology: I didn't intend my original comment to be sarcastic - although it certainly did sound snarky, didn't it?
My objective was to point out the HTPC as an alternative way to play .ISO files, since ISO-compatible Oppo's are on the endangered species list. Yes, foobar can do this for free. If you can afford the JRMC, it's a beautiful, versatile application.

As I said, I'm glad you're happy with your solution. It doesn't work as well for me, but to each his own.
