Ottawa Senators defenceman Erik Karlsson has agreed to join Team Sweden at the upcoming World Hockey Championship.
The Norris Trophy-nominated blueliner will be joining Senators teammates Daniel Alfredsson and Jakob Silfverberg at the tournament that begins Friday in Helsinki and Stockholm.
It will be Karlsson's second appearance for Sweden at the Worlds. He appeared in nine games at the 2010 tournament and had one goal and three assists.
He also played for Sweden at the World Junior tournament in 2009.
Karlsson is nominated for the Norris Trophy for the second consecutive year. He scored 19 goals and 59 assists in 81 games for Ottawa this season.
